Mobile Email on FRSU38

Solution

Adding Your FRSU38.org Account To your Phone

You must be signed into Google to view it.

Android (Gmail App) - Recommended

  1. Open the Gmail app

  2. Tap the menu on the top left Menu

  3. At the top, tap the down arrow to the right of your username

  4. Tap Add account

  5. Select Google and tap ok

  6. Follow the steps on the screen to add your account

Helpful Hints

Messages on the Gmail app stay separate for each separate account. To switch between accounts:

  1. Open the Gmail app.

  2. Touch the menu on the top left Menu

  3. At the top left, touch the smaller circle representing the account you want to switch to.

iPhone/iPad (Gmail App) - Recommended

  1. Open the App Store on your iOS device

  2. Search Gmail and download ‘Gmail - email from Google’ by Google, Inc.

  3. Once the Gmail app is downloaded open it up

  4. Type in your FRSU38.org account information and tap sign in

  5. Your new account is now linked to your iOS Gmail App, tap done

  6. You can start a tour or go directly to your inbox

Adding an additional account to the iOS Gmail app

  1. Open the Gmail App on your iOS device

  2. In the top left tap on to slide  your inbox to the right

  3. With your inbox now visible tap on Menu to bring up your settings

  4. In the bottom left tap on Manage accounts

  5. On the pop up tap on Add another account

  6. Type in your FRSU38.org account informatoin and tap sign in

  7. Your new account is now linked to your iOS Gmail app

  8. Tap done in the top left

 

Helpful Hints:

  1. If you have more than one account linked to your Gmail app on your iOS device the additional account will appear in the bottom left when you have your inbox open.

  2. Tap between the two to change what emails appear in your inbox.

  3. If you click on Manage accounts you can turn each account off and on individually.

  4. If you click edit from within Manage accounts you can remove accounts.

Android (IMAP) - Not recommended

You will first need to enable IMAP on your account before you can setup email this way.

Enable IMAP in your Gmail settings (on Gmail.com)

  1. Sign in to Gmail

  2. Click the gear in the top right

  3. Select Settings

  4. Click POP/IMAP Download

  5. Select Enable IMAP

  6. Click Save Changes

Enable IMAP in your Mail settings (on your Android device)

  1. Open the Email application

  2. Tap and then tap Settings

  3. In the top corner, tap select Next to get started with setup (or ADD Account in top right)

  4. Enter your full Google Apps email address and password, then tap Next

  5. For 'Username,' enter your full Google Apps email address

  6. Tap IMAP account.

  7. Update the Incoming Settings:

    1. For IMAP server enter: imap.gmail.com

    2. For Port enter: 993

    3. For Security type select: SSL/TLS

  8. Tap Next and fill in the Outgoing Settings

    1. For SMTP server enter: smtp.gmail.com

    2. For Port enter: 465

    3. For Security type select: SSL/TLS

  9. Tap Next and continue through the setup options and you're done.

iPhone/iPad (Native Email App) - Not recommended

  1. Tap Settings

  2. Scroll down and tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars

  3. Tap Add Account

  4. Select Google/Gmail

  5. Fill in the required information

    1. Full Name - ie. Joe Smith (what appears on outgoing mail)

    2. Email - ie. joe.smith@frsu38.org

    3. Password - *******

    4. Description - ie. Frontier Email

  6. Tap Next

  7. Select what services you want synced and then tap Save

  8. Your FRSU38.org accont will now appear in your iOS Mail App
